The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the lists of Pasay City local candidates for the coming 2013 local elections.

Local elections will be held in Pasay City on May 13, 2013 within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, congressman (or district representative), and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts.

Incumbent Mayor Antonino Calixto is running for a second term. He is under the ruling of Liberal Party. Other 3 mayoral candidates are contesting his post: Jorge Del Rosario (NPC), Peewee Trinidad (NP), and independent candidate Rome Marcelo.

For vice-mayoral seat, a total of four qualified candidates are seeking to secure this post including incumbent vice-mayor Marlon A. Pesebre (Liberal Party/PMP), Onie Bayona (LP), Joven Claudio (NPC), and Ding Santos (LDP).

Emi Calixto-Rubiano, sister of current mayor, is seeking a seat in the House of Representatives. She will challenged by Sonny Quial of Nationalist Peoples’ Coalition, and independent candidate Pastor De Castro, Jr.

The City of Pasay is one of the cities and municipalities that make up Metro Manila. It is bordered on the north by the country’s capital, Manila, to the northeast by Makati City, to the east by Taguig City, and Parañaque City to the south.

The City is known for its entertainment – business-restaurants, coffee shops, and clubs, particularly those located along Roxas Boulevard, facing Manila Bay. A large part of Metro Manila’s “tourist belt” is located in the City.

Other tourist attractions or landmarks in the city include Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, Blue Wave Macapagal, SM Mall of Asia, Mall of Asia Arena, SMX Convention Center, Resorts World Manila, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Lufthansa Technik Philippines, Macroasia Economic Zone, Villamor Airbase, and World Trade Center Metro Manila.
